September 24, 2008 Filed under Shmira News

Some time this afternoon, a burglar broke into The Kehal Chassidim Shul at 1612 Carroll Street, and tore the Poroches off the Aron Kodesh in an attempt to break in to the safe that holds the Sifrei Torah, but Boruch Hashem did not succeed, the Burglar also managed to break the locking mechanism of the main Tzdaka Pushka but was still unable to figure out how to open it, during the burglary Chumushim Talaisim and Sidurim along with the cover of the Bima were also thrown on to the floor. someone noticed that the Shul was in disarray and called Crown Heights Shmira and 911, a thorough search of the Shul was conducted, but the perpetrator was gone, Police are investigating.

Update: At around 9:30pm the NYPD Evidence Collections Team arrived on scene and dusted for fingerprints.

  7. the one who called it in says:

concerning the update you should also add that when they dusted for fingerprints they found only 3 usable prints 2 on the pushkas and 1 on the front door.

And you should also add in the report that people should always remember to LOCK the doors so stuff like this does not happen again
