MEZUZA THIEF STRIKES AGAIN
September 7, 2008 Filed under Shmira News
Sunday, September 7, 2008 5:50pm: Crown Heights Shmira received a call on the hot-line from a Crown Heights resident requesting help to file a Police report regarding a stolen mezuza. The resident, who lives at 1442 Union Street had last seen her mezuza on Friday. She recalled reading on Shmais.com that Shmira had responded to a call where mezuzas were stolen in another building on Union Street within the past week. The resident whose mezuzas went missing over Shabbos called Shmais.com to inform him of the fact. Shmais.com advised the resident to call Shmira. Shmira members responded and advised the resident to call 911. Police Officers arrived and after inquiring about the value of the mezuza and whether this had happened before on the neighborhood, filed a report.
Advisory:
There seems to be a pattern in the neighborhood. Shmira responded to a call last week where multiple mezuzas were stolen. This, just a few blocks away from the house mentioned in the story above. Remember, when putting up a mezuza always use “one way screws” the double sided sticky tape doesn’t do the job properly and keep the front of your residence well lit.
A serial mezuza thief???
CRAZY!!!
Is this one gona be categorized as a biased crime??
It seems that Union st. is the latest target. why is that i wonder?
nice pics!
the cops look like they are taking A test or something.
something has to be done this is happening a little too often.
Thank you Shmira for always being there to help.
and thats in many different ways even thing that one might think are objectives that shmira was founded for.
Shmira is a real “moised shel chesed”
thank you so much!
Why don’t you see the detectives? why don’t people call the news make it hit the world? were is D.A. Hynes ?
PEOPLE PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE WARNING POSTED ON THIS SITE!!!
in a building I can perhaps understand that you feel more secure (even though you are not) but if your front door is on the street with easy acces to every thug passing by, you should deffinately screw the mezuza in right.
thats minimaly.
If you can afford it you should also, with out a doubt install cameras in the front of your house keep it well lit etc….
wow in the middle of crown heights how can this happen i think we have to help each other and look out for these guys!!
and if we see something we should call shmira but thank you for being there to help the person with the report you guy take time off of woke to help some make a report
my hat of to you guy keep it up
If you use one way screws as suggested in the article, how on earth will you ever take it down to be checked??
I heard there was another one stolen yesterday on crown st. somewhere
so use 2 way screws what ever is good for you
if you check your mezuza every year it might be a problem but some
might check it only 2 times in 7 years and they would rather be sure that some thing is actually there for 31/2 years than worrying about how they will get checked in the future.
