CAR BURSTS INTO FLAMES, SHMIRA SAVES THE DAY.
June 18, 2008 Filed under Shmira News
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 approximately 6:35pm a Crown Heights Shmira member was on his way home from work when he caught a whiff of smoke. After a quick investigation, the Shmira member found the source in the back of 309 Crown Street between New York and Nostrand Avenue, where a car was emitting smoke. This car had been stolen and the thief had abandoned it in the backyard. It has been sitting there for over two years. The Shmira member acted quickly and requested over his Shmira radio for the dispatcher to call 911. While awaiting FDNY to respond an explosion suddenly came from within the car and it burst into flames. The Shmira member immediately got a hose to try and calm the flame until FDNY would arrive. FDNY arrived and put out the flames. Thank G-d nobody got hurt and no property was damaged. The FDNY Officials explained to the Shmira member that the battery was what caused the explosion and it was due to a buildup of heat under the hood.
